Cassie’s Series of Poems: An Ode to September

Found on “What’s on Stirling” page.

Dear Readers,

I have recently moved into a new place with my partner and since we don’t have the Internet set up yet, my posts once again became rather scarce. I don’t like blogging on my phone, however, I still wanted to be active and for this reason, I decided to share a little poem.

Found on Pinterest.

An Ode to September

September for me has always been the time of beginnings -
Of school bells, of new plans, of rekindling old feelings.

Today I hastily walk outside in this wonderful chilly weather,
Dressed in orange and black, with my shoes in brown leather.
That’s how I gaze upon the suddenly changed street -
I myself feel refreshed and indeed rather neat.

Around me the rust-coloured leaves are already falling,
While on the side the rowan berry is joyfully growing.

On my face there is a smile. My hand is holding an aromatic coffee.
I pass some children acting as wizards and I think of the Halloween’s toffee.
Today in my cup I have matcha but tomorrow it may be turmeric,
Or pumpkin spice, or chai, or anything - as long as it’s atmospheric.

There is an undeniable pleasure in all these simple things:
In the sound of crispy leaves, in reading nooks, in drawing bat’s wings...
There is so much to still wait for - the warm scarves, the fog, the magic in the air -
To overlook it all would simply be not fair!

Some say life starts in spring when everything blossoms and comes back to life.
I say, life starts in autumn, with its mysterious and cosy vibe.
Everything is possible and one just feels more alive,
Braising self and the loved ones for the long winter night.

There are the movies, jumpers and blankets,
There are book pages and pumpkins pies,
There are candles, potions and black cats,
On the witch’s head - a crooked hat.
There are food festivals, corn mazes - all things swell -
And old castles on which somebody had put a spell.

Soon enough will come the Nos Galan Gaeaf, the Samhain, the All Hallows’ Eve,
When you celebrate ancestors and all evil you deceive.
Have fun and feast with you friends and family,
Go back to old memories and for apples hunt happily.

Now, ghosts and skeletons may look deadly,
But in fact it’s pure fun and a sensual medley!

So without further blabbing I wish you all a merry September,
Warm, rich and filled with precious things to remember!
❤️🍂🍁

Yours,
-A.
